| Article of Mr. Grim on your Internetpage Anke Reimer 31 Dec 2002 Dear Sirs and Madams, as I already learned Mr. Netanyahu himself is not responsible for this homepage. Therefore I choose this introduction. Maybe you already assume what my problem is: It´s the article of Mr. Grim. Even for older citizins of Israel who still remembers (and will for sure never forget) the Holocaust this article is intellectualy undemanding. To me it seems that Mr. Grim only sees what he wants to see in Germany. It is doubtfully true that we still have problems with anti-setimism, but as I know from own experience in the US - they do, too! This should not be any excusion, only showing the fact. But on the other hand every time anti-setimism-statements have been published a whole storm of protest have been grown much louder than the origin statement. And as Mr. Grim also forget to tell in his artictle, nobody responsible in the our socity who ever made such a statement our time was in charge any longer. Further on I never met anybody in my private or even business life who made any statement like the mentioned of the three young business men. Just to give you a short overview who I am: I am a lawyer in Frankfurt/Main. I am a member of the German Socialdemocratic party. In my whole life I never jugded anybody based on his religion, skin colour or social origin. I am judging people on their behavior, their politc point of view and especially on their character. Therefore my first impression of Mr. Grim is that the one-sided reporting concerning Germany in the US media, which are mostly in connection with the Third Reich and WW II did not allowed him to give the modern Germany and its people a fair chance. Otherwise he would have also shown the other side of Germany. Which is a freedom loving country, with the right to think, say and write what ever you want - what unfortunately even is in force for the new Nazis. But to be an autonomous country also means to build up an own mind - even if our former alliets do not like our point of view. For all my friends, family and myself I can say "Es tut uns leid!" for all the crime the Germans and even our themselfs Grandparents (for example because of "I do not want to know"!) brought to many different ethnic groups in the Third Reich. To look where Claus Graf von Stauffenberg, Sophie and Hans Scholl, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Goehte, Schiller, Beethoven, etc. had lived! |
