Future of Israel
Jay Kohn (16 July 2001)
Dear Mr. Netanyahu,
I read excerpts from your speech in Elat to the members of Likud and
I
want to say that there are still many of us who agree with your
stance.
What our people need is a resurgence in the belief of Zionism and to
stop
buying into all this propaganda against us as occupiers. As Jews, we
have
both a religious and historical right to the land of Israel. It never
has
been in the interest of the world to support this view. The U.S. is
our
only ally and even their support wavers under the pressure of Arab
Oil and
a anti-Semitic State Department.
The tragedy that the Oslo Accords has brought to our nation is all
too
apparent. Why must we die for us to prove to the world that we are
trying
to make peace. Enough is Enough, the Palestinians under Arafats
guidance
have never foresworn violence. They never had sincere intentions to
make
peace. The present Government led by Ariel Sharon is doing a good job
showing the world that Israel has done all that's possible to make
peace.
The world will never recognize this fact. It's time to protect
ourselves
and forget about what is said in other lands.
Sharon's biggest mistake is that he is trying to keep you at arms
length.
This internal struggle within the Likud, does no one good. You are an
asset to the state of Israel and Sharon is doing a disservice to us
all by
limiting your usefulness to the state.
Regards,
Jay Kohn
