General Attorney and Prosecution join the elections campain
Reuven 19 Dec 2002 Before the primaries at Labor party, head of Prosecution Edna Arbel has been asked by several MK's from the Right how come there is still no decision concerning the results of the investigation against Izhak Herzog, a candidate at Labor's primaries. Izhak Herzog is suspect of collecting illegal donnations from abroad to Ehud Barak's campain in 1999. In addition to that he is suspect of using the heritage fund of the milliarder Octav Butner, while being the attorney in charge of this fund, as a pipe for transfering the donnations. This fund was destinated to welfare activities. The MK's from the Right said that if Herzog enters the Knesset, he will enjoy immunity for the next 4 years, after which the delinquency will become obsolete. The response of Edna Arbel was: "We do not deal with investigation before the elections, for not influencing their result". After the primaries at Likud and Labor parties some disorders have been reported at both parties elections. Mrs. Edna Arbel hurried to order the police to start an investigation agains the Likud party (does she remember what she said several days ago ?!?). What about Labor party ? - Nada - she heard nothing. Or maybe "We do not deal with investigations ... bla bla" Only after the "Movement for Clean Infrastructure" (HaTnua LeEichut HaShilton) addressed the General Attorney Elyakim Rubinstein, and asked to urge the police to investigate also the Labor Party, Elyakim Rubinstein and Edna Arbel asked the police to start to "check". (This was said also in the case of Ezer Weizman, the police had to "check" not investigate !) If additional pressure will be put, they will declare an investigation agains Labor Party, but the police knows what they mean (just pretend to ...) Izhak Herzog used the "right to be silent" during his "investigation". Elyakim Rubinstein and Edna Arbel also use the right to be silent. Just ask them "why do you ease on the Left ?", and they remain silent ... -------- So what should the Right do ?? Many things, but the energy should be concentrated in one direction: Izhak Herzog. We can do: hunger strikes, demonstrations, letters, write in forums, ask the prime minister to send them (Arbel & Rubinstein) away - Moti Gilat will yell (so what ??) ... Edna Arbel is 9 years in function !! |
