How to solve "Palestinian problem".
V. H. 4/3/2002
First of all I have to apologize for not living in Israel while being a
Jew.
Second, I have to apologize for giving advises to Israelis on how to
solve "Palestinian problem" while living far away..., but it seems
that everyone does this - Europeans, Russians, Saudis,... even that
Jewish boy..., sorry, intellectual - tailor Tom, so colorfully
described recently by Reuven Koret on Israel Insider web site. Also,
I developed and withheld these ideas basically for myself for a long
time, but with continuation and increasing of violence and terror I
cannot wait anymore - the moment of truth is arriving.
I definitely not anti-Arab - I have to say this since someone can
think so after reading this letter - I belive in "Palestinian Arabs"
right of return, and their right to have their own state. Even more,
I suggest to give them not just one, but two states! I will explain
this a little later... First I should begin from the right of return
- I strongly belive in "Palestinian Arabs" right of return - all of
them have right of return to Arab countries, from which they or their
ancestors came to Israel.
However, I am not so naive to belive that most of them wish to
realize this right, even Arafat, who was born in Egypt... He does not
want to go back to his native country - he wants to be a founder of
Palestinian nation, like Moses, who turned Jews from slavery in Egypt
into the nation of free people. Great desire! But if Arafat wants to
be Palestinian Moses he should follow Moses' steps - to take all
"Palestinian Arabs" wandering in Sinai for 40 years and God will show
them were to settle.
But, Arafat is not smart enough for such a thing. He cannot even
realize something much more easier - how to bring all Arabs in Israel
without any troubles. Really, it is very easy - just make them to
convert to Judaism! Go to reform Rabbi... After that, becoming
"Jews", they can enter Israel according to the Law of return!... But
not being really shrewd Arafat prefers to fight. It seems that
terrorism is the only thing that he is capable to do... in addition
to fooling Israeli peaceniks and European well-wishing wishful
thinkers.
He has raised the whole new generation of Jew-haters, and
Jew-killers... huge generation - it looks like Arabs have nothing to
do but produce children - in Gaza, which lives on international
donations there is the highest birth rate in the world! Obviously
after Arafat's hate education "Palestinian Arabs" cannot coexist with
Jews in peace for at least a few generations ahead. They will not
leave us alone... So Israel have no choice but to continue the war
for independence - still unfinished... more than 50 years later.
Yes, what we have is a war and they are enemies - they kill us, they
teach their children to hate and fight us, they rejoice and
celebrate when their bombers kill our children, they praise their
terrorists as heroes... But when we retaliate trying to stop terror,
they shout, "Massacre, collective punishment!... "Massacre", of
course, is a lie - it is for receptive foreign media, like Reuters...
But what is wrong with collective punishment? It is a war! How about
collective punishment of Israelis - intentional killing Israeli
civilians and children?! How about collective responsibility? Arabs
as a whole are responsible for what their "heroes" do to us - again -
they raise them, feed them with hate, give them weapons, shelter
them in their houses, villages, towns. On their behalf terrorists are
trying to destroy us. Did anyone among Arabs raise voice against
collective punishment of Israelis?
So what should we do with them? I think that after destroying
terrorist networks and organizations (including Palestinian
Authority) we still can treat "Palestinian Arabs" like humans and
reward them with their own state (more exactly - two states). No Arab
country wants them... even their best friend Saddam Hussein. I think
Israel should be more generous than Arab countries are, and give
"Palestinians" the amount of land about equal to what they occupy now
in disputed territories - may be 40% in West Bank and 65% of Gaza.
However, the lands on which they live in West Bank are not
contiguous, being intermittent with empty territories and lands on
which Jews are living. Why not to make exchange of land,
resettlement? From considerations of security Israel cannot permit
Arabs to live in the central planes, so close to Tel Aviv and other
populated centers. The same - for the western side of the central
mountain range, from which they can shoot down to Israel, as Syrians
use to do from Golan Heights. So the right place is Jordan valley and
eastern side of the range.
Thus, let us create one of Palestinian states there. Let us build
there settlements and towns for Arabs and provide financial
incentives for those, who will move there voluntarily - let us do
this in as humane way as is possible. But most likely in many cases
this cannot be done without using force... It is unfortunate, but
there is no other way...In a long run this will be better for both
sides. After resettling Arabs there Israel must establish hermetic,
well fortified border - we are here and they are there. Who will rule
this new formation? Let us try to give it back to Jordan, if they
will not take, UN can establish there a protectorate and to
eventually create a democratic state... Very similar but easier plan
for Gaza Strip - south part adjacent to Egypt must be given to Arabs,
Jewish settlements from this area must be resettle to the north part
of the strip, amount to 35% of the territory. South part should be
tried to return to Egypt... if not - give it to UN...
Is this politically acceptable, will the world swallow it? Sure it
will be a lot of fume and noise. Especially from Muslims... and also
from one European great "shitty country", which use to be a colonial
power, but is now increasingly colonized by Arabs... But the most
important point is that there are hardly other realistic
alternatives. By the way, if this happens no one may accuse Israel in
ethnic cleansing and racism - Arabs are ethically and racially the
same as Jews - they are descendants of the same forefather, Abraham.
Look, no one accused Kuwait for expelling 300 000 "Palestinians" not
so long time ago - I am sure that after dust will settle down the
world will understand us as well.
One more question - what to do with the 5-th column - Israeli Arabs?
First, one should correct a great mistake made in the past - to strip
them from Israeli citizenship and replace it by residency permits. So
- no participation in elections, no benefits for big families - why
should we support them multiply like crazy... Those, who will be
involved in anti Israel activities, should be deported... to their
brothers in Gaza, in Jordan valley...
The last remark, it is usually considered that letting Palestinian
Arabs to live in Jordan valley would destabilize Jordan and bring
Iraqi armies to the Israel border. One however should take into
account that the implementation of proposed scenario should happen
after destruction of terrorist organizations and infrastructure in
territories, and that, hopefully, USA will soon take care of Saddam
regime in Iraq.
