I am very sad and very afraid for the future of Israel.
Robert M. Jacobs 22 Mars 2002
Mr. Netanyahu:
I am a Jewish American whose heart is very much in Israel. I have been there once, in 1996 on my honeymoon, when I was unfortunately correct in telling Israelis I did not trust Arafat and the Palestinians.
I am a great admirer of you and even though I support Prime Minister Sharon I feel that your leadership may be needed to carry Israel through this terrible time.
I am very sad and very afraid for the future of Israel. For a very long time I have spoken; first against what Bill Clinton did to the Israelis and now what Bush and his anti Israeli State Department team is doing to Israel.
Israel is being sold out. In my opinion a combination of the US government sucking up to our "new friends" and good old fashioned Jew hating is the cause for this.
I constantly speak to Jews here in the US (New York area) who choose not to see the problem because they are too comfortable assimilating and being afraid to stand up for who they are. I also speak with non Jews. Some of them are supportive. But too many of them are too happy to see a difference between the US war against terrorism and what they see (blindly) as Jews picking on the poor downtrodden murderers.
I pray that there will still be an Israel in the future and I hope that you can withstand the attacks from everywhere, including the US administration.
Thank you and good luck.
