A Lesson for The West
Ron Myers 26 Sep 2001
In November 1947, the United Nations met to consider continuing attacks
against Jews by Arabs in Mandatory Palestine. The result was the
Partition
Plan establishing a Jewish state in the Land of Israel wherein the Jews
could be responsible for their own security. The Plan also addressed
the
contentious issue of Jerusalem, making it a corpus seperatum under a
U.N.
governor. This is the law as invoked by the U.N., although, lacking
enforcement, the Arab states were given a free hand by the
International
Community to destroy Israel. American support has always stayed with
this
context; that Israel has international legitimacy and the right to
exist in
peace.
While anti-Zionist positions may reflect ignorance, the perception
among
Israelis is that these remarks constitute appeasement and legitimise
Arab
Rejectionism ? the source of terrorism.
The Palestine Liberation Organisation was formed in 1964 ? three years
before the face of the occupation changed from Egyptian/Jordanian
occupation of Palestinian lands to the lawful entry of the Israelis ?
an
act of self-defence under International Law. Israelis held the
territories
hoping to exchange lands-for-peace (an Israeli position). Arab
Rejectionism, however, prevented any such deal and at Khartoum in the
Sudan
in the early '70's, the infamous "three-no's" were conceived; no
recognition of Israel, no negotiations, and no peace.
This strategy was replaced in the mid '80's by the PLO's strategy of
phased
conflict; i.e. That which could be gained by diplomacy would be, and
the
final push for the destruction of Israel would come when the West was
less
inclined to support Israel's right to exist.
The source of Arab terror is Rejection of Israel, and appeasement only
aids
the Rejectionists (terrorists).
No body has been better at appeasement than the U.N. We have a PLO
mission
to the U.N. We have PLO embassies all over the world. Who says
terrorism
doesn't pay? With a little help like that of Mr Straw in Tehran, the
propaganda campaign against Israel is frighteningly close to success.
The naןvetי of the media is also not helpful to the cause of Truth and
Justice ? essential prerequisites to PEACE. The Editor of Al-Quds in
London
is the latest spokesman for Rejectionism. With no embarrassment or
correction by the newsreaders, he is able to tell the world that
"Israeli
Terrorism" is the problem. Israeli terror? You must be joking! Israel
has
absorbed 90% of all terrorist activities in the world and yet has to
listen
"quietly" to these appalling lies. It's a terrible shame that the media
isn't capable of discerning that they are being used as pawns in the
propaganda campaign waged by Rejectionists.
At the U.N., terrorist-supporting Syria is in line for a seat on the
Security Council; Israel, due to the apartheid nature of the U.N., is
not
even eligible. The Red Crescent is recognised internationally alongside
the
Red Cross, but the Red Star of David is not. Why must Israel be content
with being a second-class state among the "family" of nations?
Israelis are victimised by Arab Rejectionism, Western Appeasement and
International Apartheid. But further, they are victimised again when
they
are the ones accused of all these same wrongs (witness U.N. Conference
on
Racism).
Palestinians are victims without a doubt. The debate however is over
"victims of whom?"
1948 they are victims of Arab demands to leave their homes so
that
Israel can be more easily destroyed.
1948-1967 they are victims of Egyptian and Jordanian occupation of
their
lands, and the further radicalisation of Rejectionism.
1967 they are victims of Arab aggression against Israel and
Israel's
necessary self-defence.
1970's they are victims of the Khartoum Conference. They are victims
of
the 1973 Arab aggression against Israel.
Today they are still victims ? hostages to Arab Rejectionism.
Why must disinformation prevail? Why is the pressure on Israel to make
concessions, when it is Rejectionism, which must be consigned to
history?
If Truth is a requisite to Justice and Justice is a requisite to Peace,
then doesn't it follow that Truth in history is essential to Peace?
Otherwise it remains the same Jewish History as we've all known ? the
victim is blamed for his own victimisation.
Specific Action: let's work for to repeal the U.N. resolution that
condemned Israel for the attack on the Iraqi reactor in 1981 (as a
start!).
