Letter of Support

press here for Netanyahu's speech.
Bill Eberlein 10 April 2002
Sir,
I have never sent an e-mail to a world leader before.
I am not a great communicator. I am neither Jewish
nor Arab, just an average American. I am just one of
many Americans that can not understand the recent
stance taken by President Bush regarding your defense
of your citizens.
I have agreed with everything that
President Bush has done in this War on Terrorism until
now. I do not understand his latest actions. By
saying the things that he has said, I feel that the
President has given “aid and comfort” to our shared
enemy.
If it seems that America is not behind
Israel, it gives the terrorists a reason to go on. It
tells them that their terrorist attacks on your people
are working.
I have heard many people say that if these attacks
were happening in America and other world leaders were
asking us to use restraint we would be appalled. This
is a very accurate statement. The Arab leaders keep
their people in poverty and point their finger at
Israel and America as the reason for their poverty.
America is constantly accused by Arab leaders of
siding with Israel. No one asks if these Arab leaders
are neutral. The fact is that they are not.
The saddest part of all this is that your people have
suffered so much and given up so much just to have
peace. Just to be left alone, “allowed” to exist.
Now, when you need support the most, you look to
America, and our leaders turn away. It must
demoralize your people. It is a terrible way to treat
a friend.
If you have been listening to the PEOPLE of America
over the last few weeks, you should hear VERY strong
support for your right to defend your people. I hope
that you can give the message to your citizens that
the people of America are behind them.
I pray for your country and your people.
Bill Eberlein
