Mid-East Negotiations
Frank Hertle 25 April 2002
I have not yet heard it explained as to how Israel or the United States
or
anyone is supposed to "negotiate" with people who teach their children
so
much hate and false theology that 14-year old boys and 18-year old
girls are
eager to explode themselves in order to kill as many Jews as possible.
It is clear that the chances of successful negotiations between the
Israelis
and the Palestinians are next to zero. Negotiations, however, are no
longer
necessary. Israel is on its way to winning a military over the
Palestinians:
As of today, the suicide bombings have been stopped, which was Israel's
objective. Now it is time for Israel to impose a peace based on its
withdrawing from the West Bank and Gaza settlements and building a
fence,
buffer zone, DMZ or whatever they would like to call it between
themselves
and the new state of Palestine.
In the NY Times of 4/14/02, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak
puts
forth a plan for resolution of the conflict: "Israel must embark on
unilateral disengagement from the Palestinians and establish a system
of
security fences." Mr. Barak goes on to say that "Israel's very future
depends
on this." It is a very simple idea, one that Israel could begin
implementing
right now.
The Arab world is willing to "negotiate" with Israel for as long as it
takes
to drive her into the sea. The time for talk is done. The time for
action is
now.
