Sharon's Premiership has been a Disastrous Failure.
To: letters@jpost.co.il
Dear Sir or Madam,
Rarely have I found any cause for complaint about the
Jerusalem Post over the past few years. Indeed, I
have even quietly swallowed several unpalatable facts
whereby Isaac Herzog (privileged nepotist and
none-too-honest member of the Labor party and the
coddled leftwing "elite") and Uri Dan (Arik Sharon's
personal buddy and partisan PR spin doctor) are
frequent columnists at the Post.
However, over the past few weeks I have been
increasingly disturbed by the lopsided attitude taken
by the JP towards the rivalry between Ariel Sharon and
Benjamin Netanyahu for the Likud leadership.
The Post, whether deliberately or unconsciously, has
seen fit to publish any number of pro-Sharon articles
but not one single pro-Netanyahu article! These
pro-Sharon articles included those written by Sharon
"groupie" Uri Dan, David Weinberg (24.11.02), Max
Singer (22.11.02) and today, 25.11.02, by Daniel
Bloch. The sole exposure of some of Sharon's
deceptive, disastrous policies, such as his utter
failure to destroy Arafat's terrorist infrastructure
and thus bring "peace and security" to the embattled
Israeli people (as promised the during his election
campaign) appeared in a paid advertisement by the
Women in Green on Friday, 22.11.2002.
The fact is that Sharon, in spite of Uri Dan's
constant kudos, has been the most unsuccessful PM in
Israel's history - even bypassing Shimon Peres and
Ehud Barak. Not only has Sharon's election promise on
peace and security been proven a disastrous fraud, the
economy is in an absolute shambles!
The collapse of many private enterprises, which has
increased the number of poverty stricken families, has
gone hand-in-hand with the failure of Sharon's
security promises. In the two years of Sharon's
premiership, the number of victims of arab terrorism
has soared to unbearable levels - 681 Israelis have
been butchered and 4,822 injured - about the same
number as during the first 6 years of the Oslo Accords
(1994-2000)
And now, adding insult to injury, Sharon has informed
us that, if voted in a second time, he will not only
form another (disastrous) coalition with Labor, he
will reward the palestinian terrorist entity for its
murderous terror campaign against us by agreeing to
the establishment of a "palestinian state" within the
narrow boundaries of tiny Israel. Thus will he ensure
that we, the suffering Israeli people, will not only
face more of the same Oslo Terror but perhaps even an
All-Out War.
Netanyahu should be given the chance to put all his
energy, his vast knowledge, foresight and intellect to
undo the damages Sharon and his Labor-dominated
coalition have wrought upon Israel and to set us back
on the path of renewal and survival.
Let Likud voters ponder upon these facts soberly
before they make up their minds as they go into the
voting booth.
