Sovereignty and Strength
Dr. S.Goldberg (10 Jan 2002)
No doubt Israel's haphazard evacuation from Lebanon set the stage for the Al Aqsa intifada. We have witnessed Israeli platitudes, threats and lack of concrete military action. The Israeli leadership's resolve seems dubious. There appears to be no ultimate plan.We are told Israel is strong and the Arabs know this;however, world pressure (specifically American) is preventing Israel from confronting Palestinian violence and finally quashing it. Well, the constant flow of Israeli blood seems to be a never ending stream. There are many examples causing one to question Israel's sovereignty.Apparently, fearing the world's reaction is overriding citizen protection and subjugating national interests.Futhermore,in the post Durban era, international malice towards the Jewish state overshadows any goodwill Israel manifests towards the Arabs.Clearly, the Palestinians have declared war and Israel must use its strength and exert its independence. It is more desirable to be thriving and detested than! deceased and lamented.
