| terrorism Arnold Schiffman 1 may 2002 Dear Mr. Netanyahu: I listened to some of your speeches. Terrorism is awful, but there is a fundamental issue that makes suicide terrorism the enemy of all people. I have phrased it as follows: For times of civil strife or war, we have raised our young men and women to willingly die so that others may live. Middle-eastern terrorists are raising their young men and women to die so that others may die. This is the ultimate evil – those who preach and teach children the insanity of killing themselves to kill others. These preachers are devils, many wearing the mask of God, and mortal enemies of the civilized world. Other desperate people have turned to terrorism, but nothing like this. Any society that supports and condones this evil, such as the Arab world, is committing societal suicide. I wonder why the Arab world does not seem to understand that this horror they have unleashed will one day be internalized and destroy a once great people. Arnold Schiffman |
