The Time To Say, "No" Is Now...
Shoshannah Taliya-Ashira 13 Jan 2002
Why won't Prime Minister Sharon and the rest of the Israeli Government unite long enough to say, "No" to the Mitchell Plan, and "No" to the idea of a Palestinian Nation within Israel? Could it be possible the United States really believes Israel wants the Mitchell Plan, and the Palestinian Nation to proceed, as planned by their previous leaders? Have any "new" Israeli officials said, any differently? If not, why aren't they doing so? I know Shimon Peres still wants the Mitchell Plan, and a Palestinian Nation, within Israel to go forth. That man is
selling Israel out. Why he isn't kicked out of office is a mystery to me.
If the Israeli Government officials don't unite and take a stand for what they really want, then I, as well as others, could write letters to the White House until we are blue in the face, and it wouldn't do a bit of good. Many of us have written letter after letter to Governmental officials, in both the United States, and in Israel. We have protested both the Mitchell Plan, and a Palestinian Nation, within Israel. We have also told our leaders it is Biblically wrong to pressure Israel into giving up her G-d given Land, and that if America continues to do so,
she will have to deal with G-d's coming wrath.
Then, it dawned on me, we are wasting our time. Until the leaders in Israel "unite in one
accord" and take a stand for what they really want, our voices mean very little. This has
been an object of total frustration for most of us.
Not once have I heard Prime Minister Sharon say, "No," and stick to his guns. Time after time, he continues to give Arafat the "terrorist" more chances. Even when he says Arafat is no longer in the picture, he still caves in to Shimon Peres. Either that, or he wants Arafat as a peace partner, too (which I really don't think he does). I believe Shimon Peres is pressuring Prime Minister Sharon, every bit as much, as the United States is. Israel is in desperate need of
some new leaders. My prayer is that HaShem sends them, quickly!
Until then, it is time to say "No!" No to all terrorists leaders, No to the Mitchell Plan, No to the Palestinians having a nation within Israel, No to the Palestinians having Jerusalem as their Capitol, and if need be, No to America and to the rest of the world! Has Israel forgotten that she has a G-d who neither slumbers nor sleeps? Is He not more than able to care for her?
I believe Israel should tell the United States they don't want to deal with Arafat, anymore. The United States wouldn't deal with Osama Bin Laden, except, to possibly hang him. Remember, President Bush wants him, dead or alive. It makes no difference to him, either way. Why can't Israel be that way about Arafat? If the United States saw Israel taking a stand and refusing to budge, she would get the picture, eventually. If she doesn't get the picture, she doesn't... But, the bottom line is Israel's Government must think of her People and do what is best for them. That comes before making any other nation happy, even America.
If the people in Israel are against the Mitchell Plan, they must let it be known to their leaders, who in turn need to let it be known to the United States. They can't act like they are willing to go along with the conditions, set forth in the Mitchell Plan, if it is something they don't really want to do. That will only cause more friction between Israel and the United States. It is the Palestinians who will benefit from the Mitchell Plan. All Israel will gain is more empty promises of peace. Promises, that mean absolutely nothing, I might add.
Wouldn't it be best for Israel to state the terms they want to abide by, now, while they can? Now, while the memory of the suicide bombings are still fresh in people's memories? If Israel doesn't want a Palestinian Nation within her Country, the time to speak up, is now! Can one have peace with an enemy who sneaks tons of weapons in to kill her People? No, of course not! Israel's present leaders should not be expected to adhere to what other leaders have agreed to in the past. President Bush is not going by anything President Clinton agreed to, unless he wants to, of course. New leaders, new rules to play by... so much for politics.
It isn't right for any nation, including the United States, to pressure Israel into anything! Every nation that does so will pay a heavy price. But, let Israel go on record as saying, " No, " loudly and firmly, to all these things. If she is doing so, we are not hearing that much about it, in the United States.
May Israel be like a tree planted by the waters, and not be moved, when she makes her decisions! May G-d give her the strength to do what is right for her People.
Is it not better to say, "No ," now than to suffer, later?
Ahavah and Shalom,
