To who belongs the bag under my seat?
The Girlfriend Of Yana
10 Aug 2001 Chavera shel Yana
I decided to write this true story to let people know, what is realy happening in Israel. Because of the world media coverage is not correct at all.
My hebrew teacher Yana is an exciting woman. Young, courageous, grace, favour and clever. Comming from Prag, the city of Maharal, now she is studing University Of Jerusalem. I admire her daring spirit, wisdom, circumspection and a lot of expirience. Each day we change mails through PC and internet.
In the begining of the week she wrote me a mail in which she describes her experience from the cinema. She offten go to the movies because she bought the subscription. In the middle of the movie suddently come up one girl and asked the audience : To who belongs the bag under my seat? Nobody ansvered. Half of the people in the auditorium decided to go home very quickly. Somebody shouted to turn on the light. So the light was turned on. The ushettere come and take off the suspected bag. The applause followed. Voice from the audience sayed in hebrew : ~hafsakat ptzatza~ . Which means : hafsaka = break, ptzatza = bomb (not necesarily leathal). The lights were turned off and the movie was finished. Lo haiu nifgaim. There wasn´t injuries.
A day pass away, she wrote me another mail. As I sayed, she offten goes to the movies. In another cinema she got up from the chair after the movie. And looked at special bag with belt (in hebrew poutsh) ussually tied up in waist. She told to the usherette that there is lost bag on the floor. Some seconds afterwards come young boy with question : „Is anybody found a lost bag of mine?“ Yana and the usherette gave him his bag back with a wide smile.
In Thursday Yana briefed me that there was a big explosion in crossroads King George and Derekh Yaffo in Jerusalem. She was just in the bus in Mea Shearim (quarter of Jerusalem) let say hunderts of meters from the place of terorist attack. She was listening radio Galei Tzahal in earphone. The music was interupted. Every passanger in the bus begined to know that there was something terrific happened. There was a lot of ambulancies rushing around. Radio bradcasted the horrible news : A terrorist atack in heart of Jerusalem.
The last balance sheet in Czech televisions and Radio Free Europe was fifteen died, six of them children, one of children was only four month old,..
Tomorrow is Erev Shabbat (the Evening Of The Holy Saturday) . What will be tomorrow?
I have no idea about the solution. There is no solution. In fact there is no ~optzia tcvait~ the military solution, the final solution. And there is no diplomatic solution too. You can negotiate with people which are able to negotiate. If there is no will to negotiate, there is no negotiations too. To surrend is chickenhearted. To escape there is no place to where. Remains to be strong enough, to pray and hope. That the Girlfriend of mine will graduate in University Of Jerusalem without obituary which I wouldn´t write. And so help us God. Amen.
That text will be published in Czech language at : http://www.infojet.cz
