your books
Beth Weeks 21 JULY 2002
Dear Mr. Netanyahu;
I am currently reading one of your books, A Place Among Nations. It's been not only a refresher course on the history of Israel and the Jewish people, but a renewal of the admiration I've felt since I was a child of how courageous the Iraeli's are.
Almost weekly I'm hearing yet another gruesome report of cold blooded murder. And more and more often I hear about "Palestinian rights." Why should the world be so concerned about someone's rights when they're committing murder? Why are not more concerned about the men, women, and children directly affected by these actions? Though President Bush is stricter about Arafat than our previous president, and I appreciate that, I wish he had taken an even stronger stand. Arafat has been a liar, a murderer and a farce from day one. I will never forget that he once fled Lebanon disguised as a woman! What an insult to your fundamental Moslem, I would presume.
I wish there was something I could do for the State of Israel rather than worry, fret, and pray about it. I have taken a personal interest in it for many years, but run into a lot of ignorance, or people who just aren't interested. But I am just another small person in a very big world. Please know, however, that there are people like me out here...who care and who pray and who experience grief and outrage everytime another report on a suicide bombing is reported. I'd like to know what kind of "god" this Allah is.
God bless and keep you and your loved ones there. I'll be reading your other books as soon as I finish this one. And if someone could only answer a simple question I have...how does your average Israeli find the gumption to wake up and go to work every morning? How can they not live in a fear and a reality that their life is at risk on a daily basis-that each day is a gamble- that their whole life doesn't shut down?
